Meeting notes & async updates

The PM job here isn’t “record the meeting.” Any tool can dump a transcript. The job is getting decisions and owned action items out of a fast-moving call, and reshaping them into an async update your team will actually read — while you stay present in the conversation instead of typing.

Judge these tools on three things. First, do the action items have owners and are they accurate, or is it a wall of bullet points you have to re-edit anyway? Second, can it push to where your team already works — Slack, Notion, Linear, your CRM — so the update writes itself. Third, how much babysitting — does a bot awkwardly join your call, or does it capture quietly in the background? Our pick leans hard on that last one; the rest trade it off for generous free tiers or deeper integrations.

We cut Loom from this list — it’s a fine async-video tool, but it doesn’t do the capture-and-extract job this category is about, and its AI features sit behind the top plan. It was here because it’s popular, which is the wrong reason.
